Tips for Local Musicians by Annie B. - Metro Milwaukee Arts Guild Contributor and Rock Vixen!
Milwaukee, WI
Tip for maintaining YOUR e-mailing list if you are an artist who is actively out there playing shows: You should separate fans into groups according to where they live. The further away from your hometown, the bigger the geographical separations can be. For instance, you should keep Milwaukee, WI & Kenosha, WI separate if you play both towns a lot. If you hardly ever play either town, keep them in one group, along with Madison, WI and other "nearby" towns. If you play one town alot, keep that list separate, so you only "bombard" people with weekly e-mails for whom the shows are relevant. Futhermore, if you have a new CD Release or new music video on YouTube;
something that everyone should know about, you should e-mail your ENTIRE list... as long as your new CD/video is available online so anyone can purchase/view it, no matter where they live. Try to have a good reason to e-mail your entire least a least a few times a year, so that your far-away fans don't forget about you!! Maybe you'll never do a show in their area, but you can certainly invite them to enjoy your new CD or your new video!
